Laser Cladding

Laser Cladding

Laser cladding is the process of using a high-energy laser beam as a heat source to melt the surface of a substrate and the added cladding material, forming a metallurgical bonded coating that enhances the substrate's wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and other properties.

Laser cladding heats the surface of the substrate with a laser beam (such as CO ₂, fiber optic, or semiconductor laser) to form a molten pool, while adding alloy powder or pre coated material. The material rapidly solidifies after melting, forming a coating that is metallurgically bonded to the substrate with extremely low dilution.
