Cladding

Cladding

Laser cladding refers to the process of adding external materials to the molten pool formed by laser irradiation of the substrate through synchronous or pre-set materials, and rapidly solidifying the two together to form a coating layer.

Characteristics of laser cladding: The dilution of the cladding layer is low but the bonding strength is strong, and it forms a metallurgical bond with the substrate, which can significantly improve the wear resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, oxidation resistance or electrical properties of the substrate material surface, thereby achieving the purpose of surface modification or repair, meeting the specific performance requirements of the material surface while saving a lot of material costs. Compared with welding, spraying, electroplating, and gas-phase deposition, laser cladding has the characteristics of low dilution, dense structure, good adhesion between coating and substrate, suitable for cladding materials, and large changes in particle size and content. Therefore, the application prospects of laser cladding technology are very broad.
